1. Pricing and Information
We offer transparent pricing across our range of repairs. Occasionally, mistakes can happen on pricing due to human error. If by mistake we have underpriced an item/service, we will not be liable to supply that item/service to you at the stated price.
Prices displayed are correct at the time of entry, and what the law calls an “invitation to treat”. You cannot insist that we can sell you anything at a marked price, whether or not we have made a mistake. Under the law, a retailer/servicer is entitled to decide the price they want to charge for goods/service.
In the same way you don’t have to buy goods/services from anyone, a retailer/servicer is under no obligation to sell you anything.
All prices are final unless stated otherwise by the retailer/servicer.
Import Duties
The cost of any import duties or taxes are not included in our prices. We will not be responsible for any additional charges for importing goods.
Timescales
Once an item has been enrolled for repair, the repair on average would take up to 14 days to complete. These times are always estimated, repairs can be longer or shorter in timescales depending on the nature of the repair.
These timescales are dependant on:
- Delivery of parts required
- Time of day the initial enrollment takes place (Past 2pm)
- Staff availability
Should an undue delay take place, you will be contacted.
If a part has been ordered specifically for repair, you withdraw the right to cancellation unless the part has been paid in full.
2. Terms relating to Repairs
By leaving your equipment with Altechie you agree to the following:
1. Repairs undertaken by Altechie carry a 3 month warranty, activated upon receipt of the item.
2. No Warranty is offered if we are requested to wipe products without servicing them first. Warranties cover the specific repair only. A service or diagnostic is required for 3 month warranty entitlement on PCs or Laptops.
3. Altechie does not cover under its warranty any parts supplied by the customer or a third party.
4. We reserve the right to refuse a warranty repair if it is believed the failure is self-inflicted. For example – viruses caused by going online without virus protection, hard drive failures due to impact or water damage. Screens not functioning where scratches or dents are visible.
5. Mobile phones or Tablets with frames bent/misshapen will not be covered under warranty if the screen or glass lifts or comes loose.
6. Altechie offers no warranties on any device with signs of liquid damage.
7. Altechie does not cover any subsequent if additional failures. E.g. Screen replacement, but then the battery fails within 3 months days.
8. It is at Altechie’s discretion whether to offer a refund on an already fitted product that has suffered a critical failure. E.g. digitiser replacement, the phone later fails completely.
9. Altechie will not be held responsible for any further damage while taking apart a product with existing issues unless caused by negligence. E.g. removing a phone screen which is already damaged to replace a battery if damaged hinges on a laptop failing when replacing a hard drive.
10. Repairs must be collected and paid for within 30 days of work finished or will be sold off or disposed of in order to recover costs. In the event work has not been completed but communication has ceased, from the point of no response would be considered and regarded as “work finished” as any work to the machine/device cannot proceed.
11. Labour and postage costs are strictly non-refundable
12. Altechie will not be held responsible for any loss of data, howsoever arising. It is advised to make a backup of your data before instructing Altechie to work on your product.
13. While every effort is made, it is not always possible to recover all data. For example, when doing Data Transfers or Backups & Reinstallation.
14. Programmes/ Apps cannot be copied, saved or transferred as part of a Backup & Reinstallation or other Repair Work. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure they have the relevant licences and installation media for their programmes/apps.
15. The customer’s responsible for backing up all of their data before sending it to Altechie.
16. While we endeavour to complete all work quickly, we can only offer estimated timescales, and never guarantees
17. If parts have been ordered after being confirmed verbally or in writing by the customer, this order cannot then be cancelled once parts have been ordered.
18. All products sent to Altechie will be listed accordingly. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure all products are listed.
19. Be aware, any pre-existing manufacturer warranties may be voided by instructing Altechie to work on your device. It is the customer’s responsibility to weigh the risks prior to instructing Altechie to do work.
20. Altechie cannot warrant work when lock codes or passwords are not supplied, meaning we cannot test your device.
3. Disc Cleaning and Resurfacing
Please read carefully before agreeing to our disc cleaning and resurfacing service.
Service Description
Our disc cleaning and resurfacing service is designed to improve the readability and playability of optical discs, including but not limited to CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, and video game discs. The process involves using specialised equipment to remove surface scratches and debris that may interfere with normal use.
Acknowledgement of Risks
By submitting your disc(s) for cleaning or resurfacing, you acknowledge and accept the following risks associated with the service:
- No Guarantee of Functionality: While our service may improve the appearance and performance of your disc, we cannot guarantee that the disc will function correctly after cleaning or resurfacing. Some discs may remain unreadable or unplayable due to pre-existing damage or data layer issues that are beyond the scope of this service.
- Potential for Further Damage: The resurfacing process involves physical alteration of the disc surface. There is a risk that, due to the nature of the repair, the disc may sustain additional damage, which could render it permanently unusable. In rare cases, the disc may break, crack, or become otherwise irreparably damaged during the process.
- Irreversible Process: Once the disc has undergone cleaning and resurfacing, the process cannot be undone. Any changes to the disc’s condition are permanent.
Limitation of Liability
We are not responsible for any loss of data, loss of functionality, or damage to discs resulting from the cleaning or resurfacing process. By using our service, you accept that you do so at your own risk. If the disc is rendered unusable, you will not be entitled to compensation or replacement.
Customer Responsibility
- It is your responsibility to back up any important data or content stored on the disc before submitting it for service, where possible.
- Please ensure that you have read and understood these terms before proceeding. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the service.
Acceptance of Terms
By submitting your disc(s) for cleaning or resurfacing, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions, including the risks involved.
4. General Warranty Information
Sales Warranty Terms
Laptops and Desktops
• New Devices: All new laptops and desktops come with a standard one-year manufacturer’s warranty, unless a longer warranty period is explicitly stated at the time of sale.
• Refurbished or Second-Hand Devices (under £120): Laptops sold as refurbished or second-hand with a sale price under £120 are provided with a six-month warranty.
• Refurbished or Second-Hand Devices (over £120): Laptops sold as refurbished or second-hand with a sale price over £120 are covered by a twelve-month warranty.
iPads
• All iPads (Second-Hand, Refurbished, or New): Each iPad, regardless of condition, is supplied with a twelve-month warranty.
Batteries
• Batteries Included with Devices: Batteries provided with any second-hand or refurbished laptop, iPad, or other device are covered by a 14-day Dead on Arrival (DOA Warranty)
• Diagnostic Evaluation: Batteries are also eligible for a 30-day diagnostic evaluation warranty period. If, during this time, a battery is deemed to have acceptable health and performance, any warranty claim for replacement or repair will be rejected. However, customers will be offered the option to purchase a brand new battery at a discounted rate.
Repair Warranty Terms
• Standard Repair Warranty: All repairs performed on any device are backed by a three-month warranty, covering both parts and labour on the component(s) replaced, unless otherwise noted. This warranty excludes any device that has experienced liquid damage before or after repair, or any device that incurs additional damage following collection after repair.
• Opting Out of Diagnostic Service: Warranties on laptop or desktop repairs are at the retailer’s discretion. If the customer chooses to opt out of our recommended diagnostic service, which is designed to ensure a full assessment of the devices health prior to undertaking any repair. In such cases, warranty coverage may be reduced or denied.
• Completed Diagnostic Service: Where a full diagnostic service has been completed, the customer is entitled to a three-month warranty on the diagnostic service. If new and separate faults are discovered after the initial repair, these will be treated as new repair cases and charged accordingly.
Service Warranty Terms
• Call Outs and Lessons: There is no warranty or entitlement to a subsequent free visit by staff after the initial service, call out, or lesson has been completed. Should you require a return visit to your residence or business, a new call out fee will apply unless otherwise specified at the time of the original service.
General Warranty Conditions
• Warranties are non-transferable and apply only to the original purchaser or client.
• Warranty claims must be accompanied by proof of purchase or service receipt.
• Damage resulting from misuse, neglect, physical damage, or unauthorised repairs is not covered under this warranty policy.
• All decisions regarding warranty claims and eligibility are at the sole discretion of the retailer, based on the terms outlined herein.

5. Full Warranty Terms
1. Altechie cannot collect items outside of the UK, it will be the customers responsibility to return.
2. All warranties are Return-to-Base.
3. If there is a manufacturing issue with your product we will repair it under warranty. Please contact us to begin the warranty process.
4. Warranty Repairs can take an estimated 10-15 working days from when we receive the item. This may vary depending on the type of repair and the availability of parts if required.
5. Fair wear and tear will be taken into consideration when making a warranty claim. Examples include wear to keyboards or trackpads due to usage, marks/dead pixels appearing on LCDs or overheating caused by blocked/dirty fans.
6. Dead pixels are not covered under warranty. Any claim will be decided on a case-by-case basis, depending on the number and positioning of said dead pixels.
7. Warranties are non-transferrable.
8. Brand new & Sealed products must be returned with the seal unbroken.
9. Purchases of New products can be returned within 14 days if there is a manufacturing fault.
10. Purchases of New products can be returned within 14 days provided the seal is unbroken and they are unused.
11. Cables, including laptop chargers, are non-returnable.
12. New batteries purchased cannot be returned due to being a consumable item.
13. Accessories can be returned within 14 days for a full refund in their unopened/sealed packaging only.
14. Purchases of refurbished products can be exchanged within 30-Days for another product of equal or higher value.
15. Items that are upgraded, such as RAM and Storage upgrades, cannot be returned as unwanted as they are customised and Made to Order but may be exchanged within 30 days.
16. Removed components (HDDs, SSDs, RAM) from upgrades are retained by Altechie in exchange for charging no labour for said upgrades.
17. Laptops listed as “Like new, minor wear” may contain a minor mark/scratch/scuff that is deemed minimal to overall condition.
18. If dissatisfied with condition please contact us within 14-working days of receipt of goods.
19. Items being returned must have their original accessories and packaging and with a valid receipt. Returns or Exchanges will not be considered unless these conditions are met.
20. Software related issues, howsoever arising, are not covered by warranty and are not eligible grounds for a refund.
21. Software such as Anti-Virus and Office packages cannot be returned.
22. Preloaded software sold originally with items or configured when new are not guaranteed to be available. For example, Microsoft Office Subscriptions.
23. If you wish to return your item you must send it back by recorded delivery and well packaged. We cannot return items if they arrive damaged or are lost in transit
24. If an item is not eligible for a warranty repair then you will be quoted for repairs, it is your decision whether to proceed at that point.
25. Items returned for a warranty claim will be subject to a full test. If found that damage or failure is not a result of a manufacturing fault (e.g. misuse, dropped), your warranty claim will be rejected.
26. If an issue or fault is found to be a user error or not covered under warranty (eg Software), or no fault is found on inspection, then delivery costs of £14.99 must be covered by the customer and a £19.99 inspection fee will be charged.
27. Altechie will use its discretion to ascertain where fair wear and tear may apply
28. Hinge or Backlid failure is not covered by warranty except that the fault is a known recalled issue by the manufacturer,
29. All Machines come with a Warranty Sticker, if this is damaged or removed, it will void it.
30. Warranties will be processed as follows; Repair, Replace, and Refund. We will always seek to repair an item first. If an item cannot be repaired, we will replace it with a like-for-like item. If an item can not be repaired or replaced, then it will be refunded.
31. Chargers are covered for the first 30 Days.
32. Batteries are not guaranteed unless Dead on Arrival (DOA). You must notify us within 7 days of delivery.
33. The original advertised battery life cannot be guaranteed.
34. We cannot guarantee all original Function (Fn) keys will work (such as Brightness and Volume), particularly on older models due to incompatibility with the original software and Windows 10 or 11.
35. We cannot guarantee all touchpad gestures will function on older models due to incompatibility with the original software and Windows 10 or 11.
36. Not all originally advertised additional accessories will be supplied unless specifically mentioned on the products listing.
37. Ex-Business laptops may be linked to previous owners. This will not impact the in-Windows usage of your purchase.
38. If a warranty claim is made and processed, the warranty on the item will not restart but continue from the original date of purchase.
39. Altechie will pay for One Collection/Delivery only. If the Collection or Delivery fails because the customer is unavailable, item is not ready or the incorrect address is provided you will be charged £14.99 for a failed collection/delivery.
40. If you choose to send your item at your expense for a valid warranty return, then Altechie will cover up to £6 a receipt of valid delivery would be required.
41. Altechie will not cover or accept any work conducted by any Third Party unless otherwise stated.
42. Removal of the warranty sticker will result in a void of warranty.
43. Any work conducted by any Third Party will void your warranty with Altechie. Warranties are strictly Return-to-Base only.
44. Accessories purchased can be returned within 30 days if they develop a fault. A replacement, exchange or refund will be offered.
45. In some cases, Altechie may accept a return minus a 20% Restocking fee or £40.00 flat fee depending on usage and condition.
46. If you believe an item is missing or has not been returned, eg chargers, you must notify Altechie within 48 hours of receiving the goods.
47. Altechie will not cover consequential losses, howsoever arising.
48. Altechie reserved the right to amend or add to these Terms & Conditions at any time.
49. Where a situation cannot be covered by our Terms & Conditions, we will refer to the Consumer Rights Act.
